You Can't Have Opinions About the Truth

Election Day

The thrill of election day excitement is in the air.  Or so says the media. To tell you the truth, I can't wait to get today over with and I'm worried that tomorrow may not be much better.

The media is cashing in today, on hours and hours of pure speculation and inaccurate polls. This morning I watched an interview with David Bernstein [Watergate reporter] and I agree with him completely. The election process in this country needs a complete revamping, as well as how congress operates. The past four years have been a total nightmare of wasting taxpayer's money and getting nothing much accomplished [not to mention the recession].

And YES--I blame the Republicans. We pay these folks to work together. Not to bulldoze other's ideas into the ground. This country just doesn't work anymore. We have a failed system. In my entire life, I don't think it's ever been this bad before. We are going back in time to the '60's in our legislative thinking.Obama has been blocked from almost every issue although he DID get out "equal pay for women" and his healthcare act.  Now the Republicans want to take away women's healthcare rights, "Obamacare" and the right to choose. It seems everything I fought for over 30 years ago, is in jeopardy again along with Medicare and Social Security.

How I wish I could wake up tomorrow morning and find out that all this was only a bad dream.

Life's Little Miseries

Last night I forgot to remove my contact lenses. I awoke around 4 am to the feeling of something horrible scraping my eyeballs. I got up and took them out and went back to bed. When I got up this morning, my eyes were killing me. They felt like Freddy Krueger had slashed them. I couldn't read the Sunday paper and the TV was blurry. Eyedrops didn't help but a hot shower eased the pain a bit.

When life's stupid little annoyances get you down, they sometimes feel really big at the time. Now, I'll admit this is not in the league of unrequited love or having a root canal, but still...I'm pretty miserable. I mean, what the hell can you do when your eyes hurt?

Hope it passes soon.

Getting Dirty in da Hood

I've never had a problem with getting dirty. I went out to clear away a pile of junk from behind the shed as the City will be picking up "brush and bulky" on the 29th. Timing is everything in life and in a serendipitous moment, a truck pulled up and asked if they could have the metal. I invited them into the yard to help and they took all the metal [corrogated roofing pieces and angle iron, etc]. The man had only one arm but the woman was strong. We were all grateful to find each other and I feel like I've truly accomplished something today. What a great feeling!

Gas Siphoning???????????

The other night, someone siphoned gas out of my husband's work truck. They even stole the gas cap! There was only about 5 gallons in there, but it's still the creepy thought of someone lurking in the dark outside, waiting to steal anything that isn't apparently nailed down. Is our country that desperate now? To act like we're all bad guys in some "B" movie? Have we no shame? I shudder to think of what's next.

No Prom for Gays?????????????

If this isn't ridiculous, I don't know what is. A prom is cancelled due to a female student wanting to bring a gay date. What kind of crap are we teaching our kids today? Homophobia? Perhaps they should be sent to Somalia where the "good Christian" folks have instilled a desire in the locals to hang gay people.

Fixodent Dangerous??????????

Well the news on the street now is that Fixodent, Poligrip and most other dental adhesives may cause neuro-muscular side effects due to the zinc in the ingrediants. A simple blood test can determine whether you have this problem or not.  If you do, your zinc levels will be high and your copper level depleted. Since I have been dropping almost everything I touch for the past 3 months and my coordination is that of a drunk person, I'll be looking into this. I've used Fixodent for 12 years now.  Don't take my word for it though, Google it yourself.  There is scientific research that supports this.

Oh, HELL. What next?????????????

Giving to the Poor

I slipped a $20 dollar bill to a newspaper vendor the other day and told him to keep the change. He was one of the many who stand all day on our highway medians hawking papers. As he took the money, I said "God bless" and became to him just another sap who thinks they're saving someone's soul with a few bucks.  I meant well but realized my error immediately. Just as we stereotype them, the poor stereotype US. I wanted to call him back, to explain that I don't give a shit whether he gets drunk, stoned or laid with the money, that I gave it with free will and no expectations. I wasn't trying to save his soul, although I hope he used it to buy groceries or pay rent.  It was just a simple gift.  Simple, but not so simple.
